The pets of the week are Boomer, a tricolored St. Bernard dog in cage S2, and Smokey, a gray male cat.

The Texarkana Animal Shelter has 42 dogs, 22 puppies, 28 cats and 38 kittens for adoption, said a shelter official. There were 36 adoptions in the past week but 172 animals were euthanized.

The fee to adopt dogs is $40. Cats can be adopted $20 each. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the shelter, 203 Harrison St. All animals have been wormed and received their seven-in-one shots. For more information, call the shelter at 870-773-6388.
