About 400 people came out in support of the Alzheimer’s Alliance Walk for the Memories Thursday evening at Spring Lake Park.

Most who showed up for the fund-raiser did so because they’d had a family member affected by Alzheimer’s disease, said event organizers.

Rose Wilson and her family participate in the fundraiser in honor of her father, Howard Burris, who had Alzheimer’s and died in 1997.

“This walk is a way for us to honor him and remember him,” said Wilson with tears in her eyes.
