The Louisiana Public Service Commission recently approved a request by SWEPCO to construct a 500-megawatt, natural gas-fueled unit in Shreveport.

The five-member commission unanimously approved the request on Sept. 10.

“We are very pleased the Louisiana Commission recognized the importance of this unit for meeting the future needs of our customers,” said Paul Chodak, SWEPCO president and chief operating officer.
