Texarkana Independent School District’s teachers are among the highest paid in the region thanks to voters’ overwhelming support Saturday of a property tax increase.

According to unofficial results, voters approved the raise 515 to 202.

“October 25 will be a happy day for all TISD staff,” said Superintendent James Henry Russell about the teachers’ first paycheck with the raise.
