A Texarkana businessman who embezzled from his mother was convicted of a felony and sentenced to three years of probation Monday afternoon in Bowie County District Court.

Judge Leon F. Pesek Jr., of the 202nd District, snetenced Bruce George Cannedy, 57, for theft from an elderly individual.
