The pets of the week are a black-and-white male cat, turned in as a stray, in cage C3 and Gossip, a female, 4-month-old Walker in cage D23.

The Texarkana Animal Shelter has 58 dogs, five puppies, 41 cats and 23 kittens for adoption, said a shelter official. There were 40 adoptions in the past week while 96 animals were euthanized.

The fee to adopt dogs is $40. Cats can be adopted $20 each. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at the shelter, 203 Harrison St. All animals have been wormed and received their seven-in-one shots.
