Local congressmen were at odds Monday on the vote on House Resolution 3997, the financial industry bailout some had hoped would stave off further deterioration of the economy.

The bill failed in the House of Representatives by a vote of 205 to 228.

U.S. Rep. Ralph Hall, R-Texas, voted against the measure.
