NASA turns 50: Fairview students celebrate anniversary

Students at Fairview Aerospace and Environmental Studies Magnet School in Texarkana, Ark., filed into the cafeteria with NASA stickers on their cheeks Wednesday, ready to take part in a momentous day.

Elementary student Rachel Brock stood before her peers and other audience members to give the Pledge of Allegiance and welcomed their special guests to the 50th anniversary celebration of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Among them was engineer Alvin Bishop, who has worked for NASA for 50 years and helped train the seven original astronauts.
