A total of 18 bands from across Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas braved the rain Saturday to compete for top honors at the Four States Marching Band Contest at Tiger Stadium at Grimm Park.

The competition involved 1,500 students and eager fans who awaited the start of the event, which was postponed for an nearly an hour due to lightning and rain. As the day progressed, the skies cleared up and allowed the contest to finish about 20 minutes behind schedule.
