Quick action and a school’s defibrillator save life of teacher’s aide


Staff photo by Tanner Spendley A shock from New Boston Middle School’s automated external defribillator restarted Cindy Aydelott’s heart on Sept. 12.
It happened in the blink of an eye.

On Sept. 12, Cindy Aydelott had sudden cardiac arrest at New Boston Middle School, where she works as a teacher’s aide.

“I had just finished talking to my husband on my cell phone. I told Ms. Miller I felt like I was going to pass out and then I went ... my heart stopped,” said Aydelott.

Fortunately for her, Aydelott was in the school’s office when her heart stopped beating. Also located in the office is the school’s automated external defribillator, or AED as it’s more commonly known.
