Today, Lutherans and many other Protestants will celebrate Reformation Sunday with special readings, hymns and festivities.

The Reformation, triggered nearly 500 years ago by Dr. Martin Luther’s posting of his “Ninety-five Theses” on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany, was a religious movement.

It allowed humankind to rediscover the message of salvation by grace, through faith instead of works.
