Teachers dress up to teach kids history of country music

Spring Lake Park Elementary teachers had a hoedown Thursday as they dressed up like country music stars to teach students about the history of country music.

Emcee Angela Melde, the Arts Excel and Gifted and Talented teacher, gave a history lesson on the songs, the groups who sang them and the importance of the genre today.

Fourth-grade teachers Lori Wilson, Carolyn Bridges and Sharon Talley dressed in house robes, slippers and curlers with a washboard and folding clothes to impersonate the gossip girls from the 1970s hit TV show “HeeHaw.”
