Four area schools to graduate from safety program

New Boston Middle School holds the first of Bowie County’s BASE graduations for fifth- and sixth-graders at 9:50 a.m. today.

Leary School and Red Lick School plan ceremonies for Nov. 18 at 9 a.m. and 1:45 p.m., respectively, and Redwater students graduate at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 20.

BASE stands for Basic Awareness Safety Education.

“In the past we had D.A.R.E., but we realized that there was more than just drugs that could hurt our youth,” said Bowie County Sheriff James Prince.
