Man’s suit against Smith & Wesson will be heard in September

Shortly before deer hunting season begins next fall, Smith & Wesson will defend its 460 Magnum revolver in a federal courtroom in downtown Texarkana.

U.S. District Judge Harry Barnes of the Western District of Arkansas has set a civil lawsuit against the company for trial Sept. 28.

A Rosston, Ark., couple filed the suit in July 2008 because of injuries Todd Brown suffered when he fired his gun at a deer Dec. 27, 2007.

Brown’s suit claims he bought the firearm after seeing commercials that touted it as a great way to hunt game.
