The pets of the week are Elf, a 2-year old male schnauzer/maltese mix located in cage D8 and Betty, a tri-colored tabby female cat located in cage C6.

The Animal Care and Adoption Center of Texarkana, Ark., has 52 dogs, 13 puppies, 32 cats and two kittens for adoption, said a shelter official. There were 27 adoptions in the past week and 74 animals were euthanized.
