A two-car collision on U.S. Highway 82 Sunday evening left one person dead and two others injured, authorities said.

About 6 p.m. Sunday, Rebekah Parker, 26, of New Boston, Texas, was heading westbound on U.S. 82 near the small community of Malta when a man in a Ford Ranger heading east entered her lane of traffic, causing a head-on collision, said Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephen Munger.

Parker and a passenger were taken to a local hospital for treatment of leg injuries.
