A Bowie County correctional officer is on the other side of the bars after she was found bringing drugs into the jail, authorities said.

Amber Nicole Hinds, 20, was taken into custody Friday afternoon after officers discovered marijuana on her, said Chief Deputy Larry Parker of the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office.

Hinds was coming in for the 3:45 p.m. shift change at Bowie County Correctional Center when she learned there was an ordered search of all employees coming into the jail. Other jail employees alerted Parker when they saw Hinds move to the end of the search line...
