No fights or disturbances can occur between a Garland City, Ark., council member and a resident or they will face a 30-day jail sentence, says Miller County District Judge Wren Autrey.

A complaint of potential fights, violence and “tumultuous behavior” between Council Member George Rooters and resident Emmitt Forte during the Garland City council meetings was heard by Autrey.

After testimony Monday from the two men and Tommy Goodwin, co-owner of the Lafayette County Press, who observed the verbal exchange, Autrey made “a mutual no contact order.”
