Texas-side residents seeking to serve on the Texarkana Independent School District Board of Trustees have until March 9 to file for the May 9 election.

During its regular meeting last week, the board officially set May 9 as the election date.

On TISD’s board, the seats held by Donna Chatman, District 4, and Bill Kimbro, District 1, are up for election. Chatman recently replaced longtime board member Jerry Chapman, who was re-elected in May 2008. If elected, Chatman, who is seeking election to the position for the first time, will serve until May 2011.
