The increased rates on water and sewer service in Texarkana, Ark., will be reflected on April bills.

Texarkana Water Utilities Executive Director Bill King said the agency’s proposal slated the increase to be effective April 1, but he will doublecheck that date with the city Board of Directors.

Board members voted Monday to increase water rates 20 percent and sewer rates 15 percent. The increases are expected to net TWU an additional $575,000 in the remainder of the 2009 fiscal year, which is about six months.
