Nashville, Ark., is the fourth Southwest Arkansas town to implement a city ordinance banning pit bulldogs.

The Nashville Council recently voted 9-2 to prohibit pit bulldogs from living within the city limits, said Nashville City Clerk-Treasurer Kelly Sherman. The town joins De Queen, Mineral Springs and Dierks in making that breed illegal to own.

“In the last six months police officers have had two or three run-ins with the dogs. The pit bulls were very aggressive. This has been talked about for a long time,” Sherman said.
