After slipping and sliding on gravel roads and following 15 miles of dust clouds Friday, area law enforcement agencies got their man.

Charles Rutherford, of Texarkana, Texas, was arrested after a chase that ended behind a house in rural Little River County southwest of Ashdown, Ark. Rutherford, driving a Dodge Neon, hit a barbed-wire fence.

Rutherford put the transmission in reverse, but the car was unable to back up an embankment.

He jumped out of the car and started running north along the fence line.
