A cell phone apparently helped in the rescued of a fisherman and his dog Friday morning on Millwood Lake.

Aaron Engle, 64, of Ashdown, Ark., was fishing in a boat with “Bear,” his part Poodle and Yorkshire dog, when the boat hit a stump and started taking on water.

Engle used a cell phone to call for help, said Little River County Sheriff Danny Russell. The call went to the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Department and was transferred to the Little River County Sheriff’s Office about 11 a.m.
