HORATIO, Ark.—A man was shot during an argument with another man over a woman Thursday night, police said.

Melvin J. Sims, 48, of Horatio, was listed in stable condition at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Medical Center in Little Rock.

Police said the alleged perpetrator, Shannon H. Wells, 35, of De Queen, fired a shot from an upstairs balcony at 165 Butler Lane in Horatio.

Sims was walking toward his vehicle parked in front of the house when he was shot in the right shoulder with a .45-caliber handgun, police said.
