Six-year-old was playing with toaster


De Queen Fire Marshal Dennis Pruitt walks away from the scene of a house fire where a 6-year-old girl died Tuesday night. The fire started in the back of the home where she and her older brother were playing.
De QUEEN, Ark.—After extinguishing a fatal fire and removing the body of a 6-year-old girl Tuesday night, traumatized firefighters felt the need to pray.

In the front yard of the house at 112 Lone Pine, firefighters formed a circle as they thought of Jessica Nicole Lopez, who died in the fire, said Fire Marshal Dennis Pruitt.

“The situation was new for a lot of the firefighters and even the experienced ones. A death in a fire, and especially a little girl, is something you don’t get used to,” said Pruitt. “We formed a circle and all kneeled down to pray. We asked God to...
