A Cass County man was sentenced Thursday to serve seven and a half years in federal prison for possessing child pornography.

Federal agents executed a search warrant on Jon Mikel Irvin’s home in Hughes Springs last April and seized computer equipment.

A forensic examination of Irvin’s computers revealed more than 600 pornographic images of children.

A federal grand jury in the Marshall division of the Eastern District of Texas indicted Irvin Aug. 5, 2008. He was arrested the following day and has remained in the custody of federal marshals since.
