Red Lick Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Richard Hervey announced his retirement following the regular board meeting Tuesday.

“It’s been wonderful. It’s been a great place to work and there are a lot of great people in the Red Lick community,” Hervey said Friday.

In a letter, Hervey his retirement is effective Aug. 14. He will work on the budget, taxes and buildings for the next school year.

“I will assist the person you hire to take my place,” Hervey wrote.

In August, Hervey will have served Red Lick ISD for 30 years.
