‘Dream Angel’ diamond honored with homecoming

The “Dream Angel” diamond uncovered in the Crater of Diamonds State Park near Murfreesboro, Ark., recently was honored with a “homecoming.”

Owner Rhonda Bankston of Baton Rouge, La., showed off the diamond, which is now mounted in a ring and has an estimated value of $22,000, said park interpreter Waymon Cox.

Bankston unearthed the 2.09-carat white gem in November. She asked Schumacher Diamond Cutters of Bismarck, N.D., to cut the Dream Angel into a cushion brilliant shape weighing 1.04 carats. The diamond was sent to the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, C...
