‘Major drug dealer’ will serve 20 years

A Tennessee native with a long criminal history was sentenced Monday to 20 years in federal prison for possessing large amounts of drugs and a “street sweeper” shotgun in Wake Village, Texas, in 2005.

Sallwillel Thomas Fields was a wanted man in Tennessee when he set up shop in Wake Village.

“He is your typical major drug dealer who thought he could move here to sell dope after getting caught in his hometown,” said Lance Hall. At the time of Field’s arrest, Hall was a captain with the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office. He now works as an investigator with the District Attor...
