HOOKS, Texas—An 18-wheeler careened out of control Thursday on Interstate 30 before crashing into a tree and bursting into flames, killing the driver.

Willie Archer Sr., 48, of Marshall, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Andrew Venable, the investigating officer at the scene, said no other vehicles were involved.

“We believe that a medical condition with the driver led to the accident because there were no skid marks indicating that he braked during the wreck,” Venable said.
