Dierks, Ark., is still without a water system after Thursday’s tornado activity.

The second story of the town’s water treatment building was swept away within a few seconds after the tornado hit.

The town’s 1,230 residents are trying to conserve as much fresh water as possible.

Mayor Terry Mounts said Dierks School District remains closed and a decision concerning the rest of the week will be made today.

The town received some drinking water Saturday night and is getting assistance from Nashville’s Rural Water System, Mounts said.
