A motorcyclist was killed Thursday night as he attempted to turn off U.S. Highway 67 onto FM 2148 about 7 miles west of Texarkana, Texas, authorities said.

Jeffrey Chad Rains, 37, of Hooks, Texas, was pronounced dead by Bowie County Justice of the Peace Nancy Talley.

According to an accident report prepared by Texas Department of Public Safety investigators, the wreck happened at 8:40 p.m. Thursday.
