Area civic center named for senator

Horn honored for education advocacy, support for Ashdown’s two-year college

The Barbara Horn Civic Center was dedicated during cermonies at Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas in honor of Horn’s work with the school.
ASHDOWN, Ark.—State Sen. Barbara Horn listened modestly Friday as 12 officials praised her work on behalf of the Ashdown campus of Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas.

But when the cover over the name of the new 4,000-square-foot Ashdown civic center was pulled back, she cried.

The Barbara Horn Civic Center, which was recently completed on the Ashdown campus, has the capacity to seat 750 people in auditorium-style seats. The center can also be converted into a banquet room capable of seating 400 diners.
