A story in Sunday’s newspaper stated Paul Banks of Pittsburg, Texas, was indicted last week for mail fraud in connection with an alleged scheme to defraud a Nebraska-based insurance company to get $20,000 for the death of an insured horse Banks allegedly killed.

Banks was not indicted for the crime. Instead, he was charged with it by an information. Alan Jackson, of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Marshall, Texas, said typically when an information is filed, it is done so because a defendant has agreed to plead guilty without having a grand jury review the case.
