Storms wreak havoc

Strong winds, driving rains leave city dark and damp

Evening storms tore through the Ark-La-Tex Saturday, downing power lines, sending trees through roofs, and making some roads impassable.

The Twin Cities were not spared. Structural damage was widespread, but no serious injuries or deaths were reported as of presstime Saturday night. Texarkana Emergency Management Coordinator Dave Hall said officials in local cities and the counties were out checking on seeing to the damage and clearing streets as soon as possible.
