Students attend camp to focus on character

 Gerry Foreman helps first-grader T.J. Krause, 7, with archery. The 100 students enjoyed rain gutter regatta, rock wall climbing, hike to the pirate ship, water bottle rockets and archery while learning about building character. As the students moved from one activity to the other they were encouraged to read signs with such message as “We feel good when we’re kind to others,” “I will always do my best” and “I will persevere and never give up.”

Wake Village Elementary School students spent Friday attending Character Camp at the Boy Scouts of America’s Camp Preston Hunt.

The 100 students enjoyed rain gutter regatta, rock wall climbing, hike to the pirate ship, water bottle rockets and archery while learning about building character.

“Through the year, we have 500 presentations at various schools who help with career awareness,” said Jim Paulsen, Caddo Area Council of Boy Scouts district director.
