Texas side gets new council member

Votes also in for local school board elections

Texarkana, Texas, will have a new voice on the city council and Liberty-Eylau and Red Lick will have new school board members, according to unofficial election returns Saturday night.

Tina Veal-Gooch beat out Bradley Johnson 73 to 11, for the Ward 3 seat. She said she was grateful to voters who braved severe weather to do their civic duty.

“Thanks to everyone who got out and voted,” said Veal-Gooch. .

Veal-Gooch, who has lived in Ward 3 for 13 years, ran acampaign promising a new voice and fresh perspective.
