Cass County voters turned down a school bond issue in Bloomburg and filled city council seats in Atlanta and Queen City.

The Bloomburg Independent School District’s bond failed 91-71 votes.

The district had sought $4,975,000.

Superintendent Mike White said the money would have been used to replace the school’s aged gymnasium and create needed classroom space.

If the money had gone far enough, a new cafeteria would have been added and the current cafeteria converted to classroom space.
