205,232 travelers welcomed at tourist stop in ’08

A soldier returning home recently from Iraq stopped at the Arkansas Welcome Center on Interstate 30 in Miller County, Ark., and the staff realized he was tired.

He needed rest from the highway and was still wearing a camouflage uniform.

The welcome center staff let the young man pull together two padded benches, usually located near the coffee machine, to make a bed close to the fireplace, said Paula Warren, manager of the I-30 Arkansas Welcome Center.

The soldier slept for about two hours.
