Texarkana, Texas, city officials will honor fallen and current police officers Thursday in a Peace Officers Memorial Day and appreciation ceremony.

Local officers to be remembered include Bowie County Deputy Michael Page and Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Scott Burns.

Vicki Melde, communications manager for the city, said members of Burns’ family visited Washington, D.C., this week to participate in national memorial activities.

May 15 was designated Peace Officers Memorial Day by President John F. Kennedy.
