Mating season, floodwaters give gators more home options

It’s the time of year for alligators to start moving.

And the rising flood waters are giving the gators more home options, says a sergeant with the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission.

“The big male gators are running out and pushing around the smaller male gators. It’s the time of year and it won’t be long before the mating season,” said Wildlife Sgt. Mark Kennemore.

An off-duty Little River County employee, Jerry Dean Tucker, was reportedly bitten by a 4-foot alligator Wednesday evening, said Kennemore.
