Panel to renew VINE program

NEW BOSTON, Texas—The Bowie County Commissioners Court agreed last week to keep the county involved in the state’s Victim Identification and Notification Everyday program.

Operated through the Texas Attorney General’s Office, the VINE program allows victims of felony crimes to be notified when the convict who victimized them is released from state prison.

During their May 11 meeting, commissioners agreed to renew the county’s VINE program contract for Sept. 1 through Aug. 31, 2010.
