Man sentenced as felon in possession of Winchester rifle

Tried to hire hit man in 1992

A Texarkana man who tried to hire a hit man 17 years ago to kill his wife was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a gun.

David Allen Anderson was arrested in June 2007 with a Winchester Model 63, .22-caliber rifle in Bowie County.

U.S. District Judge David Folsom ordered Anderson to report to federal authorities July 1 to begin serving his time.

Anderson’s defense attorney, federal public defender Wayne Dickey, told Folsom his client is remorseful.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan Jackson prosecuted the case. <...
