A Hughes Springs, Texas, man is being held in a Gulfport, Miss., jail for allegedly bludgeoning his stepfather to death with a hammer last Friday, said Cass County District Attorney Clint Allen.

Glen Loudale Bowling, 29, has yet to be charged and brought back to Cass County.

Patrick Cathey, 47, was found dead Sunday at a home he shared with his stepson, according to a press release. Authorities said he died of blunt force head trauma.  

“The officers found some sort of a hammer covered with blood,” Allen said.

“He was apparently beaten severely.”...
