LINDEN, Texas—A man suspected of using a hammer to bludgeon his stepfather to death over the weekend was on his way back to Texas late Wednesday, Cass County District Attorney Clint Allen said.

Glen Loudale Bowling, 29, was arrested Tuesday in Gulfport, Miss.

“Apparently we’ve got a confession,” Allen said, referring to Bowling.

Patrick Cathey, 47, was found dead Sunday in the Hughes Springs, Texas, home he shared with Bowling. Authorities believe Cathey died May 15 of blunt-force, head trauma.
