Truck collides with train; no one was hurt


The cab of an 18-wheeler can be seen behind DPS Trooper Dustin Estes. The truck collided with a Union Pacific train Wednesday morning in Maud, Texas. The cab was on one side of the railroad tracks while portions of the tractor-trailer remained on the opposite side parallel to state Highway 67.
An 18-wheeler, owned by Alfred Humphry, 58, of Bloomburg, Texas, collided with a train in Maud, Texas, shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Humphry was traveling west on U.S. Highway 67 and trying to cross the train tracks at a crossing privately owned by Ward Timber when the train struck the trailer.

“The driver of the truck (Humphry) said he did not see the train coming, even though he was driving alongside it,” DPS Trooper Dustin Estes said. “He said if he did not cross the tracks, his trailer would hang onto the highway.”
