Crash sends family of 9 to hospital

Police: Driver hit van of children head-on when he reached to plug in cell phone

Seven children and their parents were rushed to a Texarkana hospital Monday for treatment of injuries that weren’t life-threatening after a car struck the family’s van on Interstate 30.

The driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to a local hospital, where he was treated and released Monday.

The van full of children rolled several times, and the Arkansas State Police credits the use of seatbelts and child safety seats in saving the children’s lives.
