Fouke schools’ new superintendent said he envisions combining the district’s education with updated technology to continue the good work the staff and past superintendents have already done.

Tommy Tyler, formerly an assistant superintendent at Monticello School District, started Wednesday at the helm of Fouke School District after being chosen from about 20 applicants last month. He signed a one-year contract at an estimated $83,000 per year salary plus a housing allowance.

He is replacing Superintendent Paulette Smith, who died in a car wreck Jan. 21.
