Soldier in Afghanistan finds unique way to celebrate the Fourth

Dillard Baker raises the U.S. flag he recently received from his son, who is currently serving as an U.S. Air Force medic in Afghanistan.

Even though U.S. Air Force Tech Sgt. Kyle Baker could not be home for the Fourth of July, he found a unique way of sending his thoughts home for the nation’s 233rd birthday today.

Baker, a former Hooks, Texas, resident, is now stationed near Jalalabad, Afghanistan. He recently sent a United States flag to his parents, Dillard and Phyllis Baker, who still live Hooks.

Baker, 34, is about 12,500 miles from home serving as a medic as part of the 21st Medical Operations Squadron, based out of the Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado. Apparently, he wanted his parents to have...
