Enthusiasm was up Saturday along with the triple-digit temperatures as thousands of fireworks fans flocked to the Four States Fairground for the eighth annual Sparks in the Park.

Well before the rockets’ red glare sprouted throughout the evening sky, patrons from throughout the Texarkana area took advantage of the temperature moderation afforded by an early evening breeze. Most strolled around the fairground’s lively midway and cooled themselves with refreshments.
